In honor of our upcoming trip home!

Here are some of my favorite road trip albums!

1.  Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come.

This album is long enough to get you through a few counties, maybe even across some state lines.  From the opening epic "Worms of the Senses/Faculties of the Skull," through upbeat, jazz influenced ragers "The Deadly Rhythm," and "Summer Holidays vs. Punk Routine," the big hit "New Noise," and the dance beats of "Refused Are Fucking Dead," a good ol' head noddin', steering wheel drumming, singing along until a car passes you and trying to make it look like you're not even though you don't want to stop, fist pumping time.  Run on sentences forever.

2.  Everclear - Sparkle and Fade/Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape.

These are my big nineties sing along albums.  Every song on both albums is great, and I know every word.    An excellent mix of nostalgia, and just good old god damn song writing.  Seriously, try listening to "Santa Monica," "Summerland," and "Heroin Girl" from Everclear, and "Monkey Wrench," "Hey Johnny Park!" and "Everlong" from the Foos, and not having a great day.

3.  Small Brown Bike - Dead Reckoning

This may have a little to do with the fact that our upcoming road trip is to the native land of both the Bike and us, but, damn it, I don't care.  This album is phenomenal.  Mad conviction, stop and start air guitar moments, a little bit of head banging, and a whole lot of pounding my fist on the dashboard.  I'm into it.

Pretty stoked to head back to Michigan.  Pretty stoked.

Song of the day:  "The Slowest Drink in the Saddest Bar on the Snowiest Day in the Greatest City" - Lawrence Arms
