A Sad Day.

So anyway, I'm at my parents' house in Michigan for the week for the holidays, and we had a sad day today.  Our old family cat, Franklyn, had to be put down.  We've had her for sixteen years, and she was an old, old sick cat.

A few years ago, the summer I was 21, I was going through some really shitty stuff and I ended up moving back in with my parents for a few months.  I remember sitting on the couch until five or six in the morning every night, long after the rest of my family went to bed, being super bummed out.  Franklyn would go to bed with my sister and hang out with her until she fell asleep, and then saunter down the stairs and come sit with me.  Taking care of everyone.  She was awesome, intuitive, lovely cat.  I miss her already.

My mom, sister, and I took her to the vet today, and then buried her in the backyard, which was kind of tough to do,  but I think it was the best thing in the situation.  My little sister wants to erect a tombstone that says "Here lies Franklyn.  A free cat."  In honor of Harry Potter, obviously.  Nerd stuff.

We will never forget you, fat cat.
